Ashley Wilkinson Research Coordinator

Ashley is a PhD Candidate in Health Sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Schiff. She completed her Master of Health Sciences at Lakehead University in 2021, having previously earned her BSc (Honours) in Medical Sciences from Brock University in 2019. Her Master’s thesis examined the barriers to culturally safe care for Indigenous Peoples in Canada and Māori of Aotearoa/New Zealand. Building on her Master’s research, her dissertation aims to examine the impact of racism on healthcare access and quality for Black and Indigenous people experiencing homelessness. She is passionate about health equity, anti-racism, and the health of racialized communities, and she is excited to continue working as part of the At Home in the North team as a research coordinator for Dr. Rebecca Schiff.
