Created as a benevolent, philanthropic, non-profit corporation, governed by the Societies Act of the Northwest Territories, the Friendship Centre exists to build values, character and community for the Behchoko and surrounding communities by providing a safe environment and practical support through a broad range of programs and services. We currently offer an extensive range of programs that provide services to community members addressing: health and wellness; homelessness; at-risk youth after school and weekend programs; children’s programs; and, Elder’s needs. We are also a partner on the Behchoko Northern Pathways to Housing Program, along with the NWT Housing Corporation and CMHC. This program aims to fill a critical gap in the community’s housing continuum by providing housing to residents in need and connecting them with the social and health supports they require.
